Ringdown

Switchboard Puzzle

It's 1962. You're on the switchboard. The lamps are lighting faster than you can plug them — and every caller is one breath away from hanging up.

Out now on iPhone. Free to try — one purchase unlocks everything. No ads, no pay-to-win.

Ringdown gameplay showing a wooden switchboard with glowing call lamps, jacks, cables, score and timer.

The feel

It should feel like brass.

Ringdown isn't a grid of flat buttons. The board is brass and bakelite. The cables have weight. Every plug lands with a click you feel in your fingers, backed by period sound recorded to match.

We spent the time on the small stuff — the hum of the panel, the snap of a connection, the haptic thud of a cable going home — because that's the difference between a puzzle and a place.

How it works

A lamp lights. It tells you a colour and a number.

01

Read the lamp

A call comes in and a lamp lights. The colour is the cable you grab; the number is the jack you plug into. The ring around it shrinks from amber to red — that's the caller's patience.

02

Make the connection

Drag the right cable up from the dashboard, drop it on the right jack, and you've made the connection. Answer fast and you build a combo. Fumble the port or let a caller hang up, and it breaks.

03

Work the squeeze

The longer your shift runs, the worse it gets. Priority calls expire fast but pay double. On a squeeze shift there are more callers than cables — so you'll tap a seated plug to free a line and reuse it before the next lamp turns red.
